FIRST2RUN project as a case study at EFIB 2016

On 18-20 October the most important industrial players and policy makers in the field of bioeconomy,  will meet at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre in Glasgow to attend the ninth edition of the European Forum for Industrial Biotechnology and the Bioeconomy (EFIB).

With themes ranging from inspiring new business models, circular economy and the availability of feedstocks, this year’s EFIB agenda will provide a comprehensive update on the status and outlook of biobased industries.

On 20th October in the section “Investing in Innovation”  there will be a panel dedicated to the presentation of the successful projects that have received funding by the Bio-Based Industries Joint Undertaking (BBI)  in order to stimulate growth and employment by developing the circular bioeconomy.

Paolo La Scola, NOVAMONT’s EU Public Affairs, representing the FIRST2RUN project will explain how the project intends to support European bioeconomy through the implementation of a highly innovative value chain, where low input oilseed cultures (for example thistle), cultivated on arid and/or marginal land, are used to extract vegetable oils to be converted into bio-monomers as building blocks for bioproducts such as biolubricants, cosmetics, bioplastics, additives. Last but not least NOVAMONT’s presentation will present a proposal on the ideal regulatory framework for the development of the bioeconomy.
